Hawkes Place

The beauty of Smart Home Automation is that it can be retrofitted as well as installed during property construction.  In this example, Lake Home AV were commissioned to work on a brand-new property called Hawkes Place, as it was being built in Sevenoaks, Kent.

The experienced property developer behind the project wanted to update his portfolio and create a contemporary dwelling for modern living.  His vision was for a smart home with in-house connectivity and automation for lighting, audio, heating and blinds as well as secure entry but, importantly, the systems had to be intuitive and easy to use: hi-tech but low drama.

Clients first

Delivering fantastic customer service is part of the offering from Lake Home AV and this starts during the initial discussion stages when ideas and budget are shared by the client.  The Hawkes Place developer chose us because he was so impressed with how director Luke Kavanagh and the team proposed to meet the brief within budget, rather than ‘up-selling’, thanks to their extensive experience and knowledge of the products available, from both the high street and lesser-known brands.

Being involved from the outset of property development has its advantages and, in this case, working alongside the electricians to ensure that everything was conducive to the planned automations meant that surprises were avoided, installation was efficient, and timeframes could be met.

Hi-tech, low touch

Hawkes Place was to have automation for heating, lighting, audio and blinds with a touchscreen control panel in each room, for that room.  The property developer was a Smart Home Automation novice and wanted the systems to be user-friendly so that prospective buyers were excited by the technology rather than daunted.

The popular MyHOME_Up system from Legrand was the perfect solution.  This is a bestseller thanks to its simplicity and versatility, allowing users of all ages and tech savviness to create bespoke automation in their homes.  MyHOME_Up can easily accommodate a touchscreen control panel wherever required and the Legrand app on smart phones and tablets means that automation can be controlled away from home too.

Hawkes Place’s superior audio functionality was achieved by installing the Nuvo system which works throughout the house via concealed speakers in the ceiling.  Music can be played or streamed in one room, several rooms or the whole house and, of course, can be automated or controlled via the touch screens or the app.  A great addition for any party-loving family.

This property developer wanted a sophisticated door entry system to befit the property: secure and automated.  A Bticino door entry system was installed as well as security features by Pyronix and Hikvision, all of which could be controlled via an app so there’s guaranteed peace of mind when away from home too.

The beauty of these installations is the combination of quality and simplicity.  For this project, Legrand visited to provide a tutorial on using the system but usually, this is all part of the service that Lake Home AV deliver.

As pleasing as it may be to be involved in a house build project from the design stages, all of these systems can be incorporated into a home to bring it into the 21st century.
