Ultimate multimedia room makeover
Turning an under-used room into a multimedia space is a fantastic way to add value to your property whilst still functional for home life. New technology means you can install a quality home cinema system in a basement, bedroom or living space without having a dedicated cinema room.
This client approached us to design a games room with a big screen: as a top-flight footballer, off the pitch, he loves watching matches and playing FIFA online. The room that he wanted to use needed a complete redesign and redecoration, but he had a budget in mind which meant Lake Home AV had to provide a cost-effective solution.
The brief was to transform a ‘tired’, under-used room into a games room to impress but it had to be multi-functional

Beautifully integrated design and functionality
The key parts of this design were to consider the decoration so that it was conducive to a cinema room and also to install the most superior cinema system for the budget. Lake Home AV always advise the best match for the brief rather than the most expensive, regardless of budget and our knowledge of the AV marketplace is second to none. In this case, we went back to the client with a few options and then it was his choice, depending on the style and functionality.
The client chose a 5.1 speaker system (five speakers and one sub-woofer) and a visual performance speaker, both from US brand Sonance, as well as a Yamaha AV amplifier. These combined provide superior sound quality.
The projector came from JVC which we boxed in to create a smooth look and the fixed frame screen provided the wow factor, evoking the all-important cinema look and feel. We combined dark colour walls for a modern design. The colour-changing LED lights, which can be controlled via sleek Lightwave switches as well as through an app on a smartphone or tablet, really ‘lift’ the room giving it extra cinematic atmosphere.
The finished room looked spectacular, elevating it from a sad, storage room to a buzzing cinema and gaming haven.
